The Sutton Garden Club will award at least one $500.00 Scholarship, annually.
Graduating students who are residents of Sutton and graduating students from other towns, who are related to current Sutton Garden Club members, are eligible to apply.
First consideration will be given to an individual intending to pursue college studies (including college affiliated programs) in the field of horticulture, landscape design, botany, environmental studies or other related sciences.
The Sutton Garden Club Scholarship is not restricted to the student's freshmen year but may extend to subsequent years as they continue their studies. To re-apply, follow the instructions in the 'Application Procedure', below.
The Sutton Garden Club Scholarship is contingent upon the student's ability to maintain a grade point average of 2.5 during the semester immediately following the granting of the scholarship. The check will be sent to the student, their parents or the college after a copy of the first semester grades have been sent to the Sutton Garden Club's Scholarship Committee.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Compose a letter of application and address it to the 'SGC Scholarship Committee'. Applications should be one page, single spaced and typewritten/word processed.
Your letter should include some or all of the following information:
1. A self-introduction.
2. A description of your academic achievements including any awards, honors or recognition that you have received for academics, art, music, athletics, etc..
3. A description of your interests and activities in the community.
4. Your educational and/or career plans and where you will be attending college.
5. Any additional information that you think might be helpful to someone considering you for a scholarship.
