SGC’s 2021 Plant Sale will be held this Sunday, May 16th and is dedicated to Anne Holzwarth, a member who was one of the founding members of SGC in 1997 when the original group first met at Kari Beaton’s home and formed the Sutton Garden Club.
Anne has been an active SGC member, as long-time Corresponding Secretary and, for many years, Cashier and Membership rep at the Plant Sale. Many SGC Members recall the pleasure Anne took in “ringing the bell” to open the Plant Sale and here’s a photo of Anne with the bell in 2019. Anne is experiencing some serious health issues right now. We send Anne much gratitude for all that she has done for SGC over the years and we certainly wish her and her family all the best.
Some last minute reminders/updates to our customers...the Plant Sale will begin promptly at 12Noon when the “Start” bell is rung; prior to this, please keep interaction with the plants to just looking. We are still planning that all members and attendees will wear masks since it is difficult to social distance in this situation. We will monitor for any additional CDC/State updates meanwhile. We will have masks available, as needed, and hand sanitizer stations. New this year, SGC will have a monitored holding area where customers can leave their plants if they wish to do additional plant browsing. Finally, this year, all plants will remain at full price till the end of the Plant Sale; any remaining plants will be donated. And, perhaps bring your rain jacket just in case. As one of our amazing gardening members said, “grey, rainy days are the best days for planting.” See you Sunday!
